Dear Northside School Families,

When you step onto our campus, it feels like a reflection of our community - warm, welcoming, and engaging.  Here at Northside School, we are committed to bringing out the best in each other - academically, behaviorally, socially, and emotionally.  This is reflected in our staff’s commitment to universal achievement: Driven by our belief that all students are capable of reaching their full potential, Northside staff is committed to ensuring that every student has equitable opportunities and necessary support to succeed.

As a STEAM School, our mission is to enrich and engage our students through a rigorous curriculum infused with Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.  For example, starting in Transitional Kindergarten, our youngest learners get hands-on experience working with simple tools and technologies in the Makerspace.  As skills and expectations grow, our older students are challenged to imagine, design, create and participate in Future Cities and Space Competitions, Science Fairs, and Future Engineers Challenges.  Collaboratively they apply their knowledge and skills to solve real-life problems.

Our motto, “Educating the Whole Child,” denotes our commitment to not only providing rigorous and engaging curriculum, but also our dedication to supporting the social-emotional well-being and growth of our students.  We promote Character Strong traits: kindness, respect, responsibility, gratitude, empathy, perseverance, honesty, cooperation, courage, and creativity.  We take the time to explicitly teach and reinforce these desired traits and behaviors.  As a result, Northside School has a school culture which promotes safety and inclusiveness.

In partnership with parents and community members, we strive to make learning relevant to future academic and career endeavors.  This is reflected in our emphasis on goal setting and systematic celebrations of achievement. Like many in our community, I had the privilege to grow up on the Divide and graduate from Golden Sierra High School. It is my honor to be in a position to work closely with students, parents, teachers, and staff to positively influence the lives of the next generation.  Together we make Northside School a great place to learn and grow.

Sincerely,

Emily Gallo, Principal
